This week I stopped by Sophie Monet’s Jewelry Showroom. She makes such unbelievable jewelry and her showroom in Venice is awesome! She hand makes everything herself and I love that she is a Venice girl! It always feels so good to support local shops and friends!

A little bit about Sophie and her brand — Sophie Monet is a line of jewelry designed and handcrafted in Venice, California. On a summer afternoon in 2009 the line began from a single piece of wood transformed into a ring with the help of her dad’s drill press. Sophie Monet jewelry is dedicated to taking a hands on approach to redefine modern luxury using exotic wood, precious stones and metals to create timeless pieces of handmade jewelry. Producing locally using sustainable materials whenever possible Sophie Monet has created a line that blends both bold and colorful elements with refined classic shapes. By exploring new mediums she aims to create eye-capturing jewelry that will continue to inspire and bring joy to its owner.

“My designs are a mix of modern, artistic and versatile pieces you can wear for any occasion. I design and hand-craft everything in my Venice, CA studio, along side my dad and sculptor, John Okulick. My jewelry is a synthesis of my life. The wood represents Los Angeles and what I was surrounded by growing up. Whether it be the palm trees that line the streets from Venice to Santa Monica or my close family bonds, and the wood shop I spent my childhood in with my dad. I synthesize and sculpt the materials that surround me, bringing natural elements into different contexts.”

A true Angeleno, the California coastline as a muse marks a natural progression for the designer and for the line. Sophie Monet continues to explore the arts by integrating new mediums in hopes to create eye-capturing jewelry that will inspire creativity.
