MY PUMPING ESSENTIALS

So as you guys know, I have had a very difficult time with breastfeeding but as the weeks have gone on I’ve felt more and more comfortable with pumping. When Sonny needs an extra top off or it is convenient for me to nurse, I do it, but mostly I am pumping and making bottles. I have found that pumping comes with a whole slew of parts and necessities and wanted to make a list for you of all those that have made my life easier.

Pumping is like a full time job so why not make it as convenient and efficient as possible. I enlisted the help of the AMAZING Victoria Facelli. She is an internationally board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) and part of Gugu Guru’s Concierge network of industry experts that provides a range of services to new and expectant parents including personalized baby registry assistance, lactation support and more. She is the owner of Durham Lactation which is a goals-based lactation practice in North Carolina.

Spectra S1

This is an AMAZING pump. I know Medela is the most popular but I have tried both and think that the Spectra is the most efficient. This model is also Battery operated so you don’t have to be plugged into a wall and is easy to travel with!

Freemies

So no one has to stare at your nipples being pinched back and forth and you can use your pump hands free!

Hands Free Breast Pump Bra

If you don’t want to purchase freemies, you can use this with the pumping supplies the pump comes with!

Extra set of pump parts for the car

This is for my Spectra but you can find an extra set for your pump too.

Sarah wells pump bag with a special pockets

We all need a cute bag to carry our pump and supplies in!

Cute cart for all your pump and baby care stuff

A rolly cart so you can pump in different areas of the house and have all your pumping essentials in one place.

Heating Pad

This helps warm the milk before I pump to limit any clogging.

Coconut Oil Pills and Sunflower Lecithin Pills

When I got Mastitis, I saw. Dr. Joubin Gabbay and he told me to take 4 Coconut Oil Pills and 2 Sunflower Lechitin Pills a day to help smooth the milk so it didn’t create clogging! I have been taking them religiously for a week and a half now and I think it is really helping! I haven’t had a bad lump in like a week!

  1. Hi Whitney!
Im from Brazil and LOVE your honesty about maternity…
So, lots of people talk about all kinds of bottles… Do you have one that works better with Sonny?
I was thinking about Phillips Avent’s glass bottles… And then I found out about Comotomo… But there are so many options!
    Can you help me?
    xoxo,
    Natalia
