As most of you other new moms probably know, leaving your baby for a night out can be SO hard. When I first had Sonny, it was difficult for me to leave him at home with a sitter whenever Timmy and I would go out for a date or if I had dinner plans with friends. As time has passed and he’s gotten older (he’s a little over 9 months now…crazy how fast time flies!), I’ve managed to create a balanced routine that allows me to spend quality time with him and have some moments to myself so I can feel/look my best for those occasional events.
Before getting ready myself, I make sure to help get Sonny prepared for bed with a good old bath. Since I typically won’t be the one tucking him in on nights like these, I use this moment to help him feel comfortable and clean before it’s time to snooze. Once that’s done, I use Burt’s Bees Baby 100% Natural Multipurpose Ointment to relax him and give him a nice little massage. I try to stay conscious about the products I’m using on him, so I really like this ointment because it’s made with safe ingredients that make Sonny’s skin feel soft and smell good! Plus, he’s always calm after which makes things easier for when the sitter takes over.
Once Sonny’s good to go, It’s time for me to start on myself. During the day I’m typically already wearing some makeup, but I like to start off with a clean face and redo it for plans in the evening. To start, I use Burt’s Bees Micellar Water and then their Sensitive Towelettes to remove whatever I have on. Both work great alone, but I like to pair up the two to make sure that I’ve washed off any dirt or leftover makeup. When that’s done, it’s time for the most important part: moisturizing! I’ve used so many different moisturizing creams over the years, and I try to switch them up depending on how my skin is at the moment (lately it’s been a little dry). I’ve recently been using Burt’s Bees Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream and love the results. My skin feeling fresh and hydrated, which is exactly what I need with this dry weather.
After my skin’s ready, it’s time for the fun part… makeup! At this point, I usually have to hurry up a bit and only have a short time to finish getting ready. So, to get everything done fast and still look good, I turn to a few staple products: NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer (because you can never have enough on), stila Convertible Color, and Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Nourishing Mascara. Finally, my last and favorite step is to put on some Burt’s Bees Liquid Lipstick. This stuff is perfect for adding a fun pop of color to your look, while also being super low maintenance and easy to apply. I’ve been a sucker for their lip balms for years now, so I couldn’t be happier when I realized this product also leaves you with all day moisture and soft lips.
And just like that, I’m good to go! What’s your routine for a night out? Let me know in the comments below!
