Taupe Eyes by Taylor Fitzgerald

Whitney Port shares makeup tutorial from Taylor Fitzgerald with taupe eyes and a bold lip

On my recent trip to NYC for Water Wipes I was able to collaborate and work with an amazing new (to me) makeup artist, Taylor Fitzgerald. I got so many comments on my look so I asked Taylor to create a how-to to share on my blog!

As we discussed what Whitney had planned for the day, she mentioned she had an event that day and one in the evening, so we had to do a versatile look and decided to amplify the look for the evening with a bold lip later on. The look we went for was a wash of a taupe-y light brown shimmery shadow with a buffed out liner towards the lash line, and dewy natural skin and fluffy brows.

Step 1. I am big on skin prep. Her skin is already so flawless, but knowing she just flew in from LA to cold, polluted NYC, I used my favorite hydrating products. I started with Bioderma to clean any residue from the skin on a Shiseido facial cotton and I hydrated her lips with Glossier balmdotcom. I pressed a tiny bit of the Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate into her skin and finished with the J.One Hana Cream (they come in these individual moisturizer balls and are AMAZING!).

Step 2. I applied the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise cream shadow in Marie Antoinette to her lids and blended into the crease with a fluffy brush. As a liner I applied the Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Ro(cocoa) on the lash line and buffed out with a small smudge brush.I also applied that eyeliner to the bottom lash line on the outer corners and smudged inward with my finger for a soft finish. I used a small amount of Mac Naked Pigment to set the cream shadow and lighten it a touch. I used Ardell Individual Lashes in Short on the eyes to fill out her lashes and applied some Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara to blend them in together.

Step 3. Now that the skincare has settled in a bit, I started with only a small bit of Glossier Skin Tint On her T-zone area, around her nose and chin (I mixed Medium and Light). I used Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage concealer in SC-2 on any blemishes with a small tapered brush. To conceal beneath her eyes, I applied the Clea De Peau concealer the shade Ivory in the inner corner and buffed the excess concealer out with my finger. Rather then apply too much concealer, brightening the inner corners was the priority.

Step 4. I used my FAVORITE brow gel, the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows gel in the color “Linda” and brushed her brows upward. I applied the Nars liquid blush in Orgasm with a duo-fiber brush on her cheeks and tapped it into the skin to blend. Using a fluffy shadow brush, I set the makeup only around the nose, chin, and blemishes with the Laura Mercier Translucent L

oose Powder. We wanted a dewy finish so the powder wasn’t necessary all over the skin.

Step 5. We finished the look with a natural lip. For Whitney’s second event that evening, she bumped up the look with a lip tint to pair with her outfit.
