So a few weeks ago I was venting to you about how nervous I was to host my first Thanksgiving. I wanted it to be everything my family is used to sprinkled with a little bit of newness. We started the day with a Turkey Trot in the Pacific Palisades. I have to be honest, Timmy and I got in a fight that morning on our way to the Trot because he suggested we start dinner at 4pm. He had some good points about it being early for the kids and the fact that mostly everyone in America eats Thanksgiving that early so you can even eat leftovers a few hours later. I got a little defensive because that wasn’t what my family was used to and everyone would be stressing to get their plates finished instead of relaxing and enjoying the day. It snowballed into a whole thing which exasperated my anxiety about hosting. I felt like I was letting everyone down. I wanted him to feel heard and feel like I actually cared about his desires but I also needed to manage my own families expectations. We finally came to a compromise of 5:30, hugged, kissed and decided to let it go and enjoy the rest of the day.
The day was spent lounging, cooking, playing cards (my cousin even had to jump in the freezing cold pool because she lost a bet), setting the table and entertaining the kids. It was FULL on but so much fun. Here are some pics of our gorgeous table thanks to @bkevents. I hope this isn’t the last of my hosting Thanksgiving!
