Happy Friday!! Who else feels like this has been the longest week ever?? I am so drained. My brain has been moving at 200 MPH 24/7. TIME TO RELAX. In case you want to do some easy online shopping this weekend, here is everything I wore, used and loved this week!
As you guys know…I LOVE talking about skincare. Is it getting annoying yet, cause I could do it for hours and hours? I almost did this week on WITH WHIT! I spoke with Celeste Thomas, a Registered Nurse and holistic skincare expert. She has devoted her career to exploring the ever-evolving skincare industry. Celeste utilizes her medical expertise and passion for holistic wellness to find what truly works. Below you will find links to products from her favorite skincare brands!! I already bought and love them all!
The past two weeks have been SO exciting. My new collection, Love, Whit x Rent the Runway, launched!!! I worked on this for so long and it is so surreal that it’s finally out and ready for you to rent (or buy if you love!). Below, you will find some of my fave pieces from Love, Whit…PLUS more products I wore, used and loved this week.
I really can’t believe it is almost already July. Quarantine has completely messed with my concept of time, but summer is here and it’s HOT in the Valley of LA. Unfortunately, LA has just hit a spike with Covid-19 cases, and we are tightening our quarantine back up. My stress level is a little high right now, so I want to make sure I unplug when needed and get outside! Also, Sonny learned to swim so I really need to soak up these days of his swimming toddler bliss. All this to say…I went on a DEEP dive of swimwear because I was ready for something new and wanted to feel fresh for my mini adventures to the backyard.
It has been almost 3 months since the Stay At Home order was put in place in California. Parts of LA are beginning to reopen, but we are still limiting leaving the house. A lot of us are continuing to be tested right now as restlessness, stress and anxiety continue to persist with all of the uncertainty going on in our country. Dr. Arielle Schwartz is back with an essay on resilience strategies.
I am always preaching about how important self-care is. I hope you’re not sick of it. It is SO important. Especially now. There is a lot of chaos happening in our country. We are in the thick of the biggest civil rights movement of our lifetime while continuing to face a pandemic. It is crucial we pay attention to ourselves, so we can stay mentally and physically healthy and grounded. It is more important than ever that we are in tune with what we need to approach life standing on level ground both physically and mentally. During these stressful and overwhelming days it can be really hard to stay positive. Every morning, I tell myself, “Today is going to be a great day.” (As taught to me by Dr. BJ Fogg. You should check out the podcast we did togetherif you have the chance.) Some days I believe it and some days I don’t. Saying this at least begins to reframe my thinking. It’s the smallest acts that can really help me keep my head above water.
After a busy day, sometimes I just want to sit in front of the TV and veg. Vanderpump Reunion Part 3 is looking pretty bomb right about now. But take a pause. Are you in the mood for something educational? Something we have a responsibility to learn? If you feel like it, take a moment to look over this list of videos, documentaries, TV series and films that cover race, racism, resistance and Black stories. Pause before you start that next binge of random TV and pick out one of the below. Hopefully these selections will inspire you to learn more, research and take action.
I just went on a deep dive into vases! I am spending so much time at home (as most of us are) and constantly thinking about changes I can make around the house. Vases are great because they can bring so much to an empty surface, shelf or table. They don’t necessarily have to have anything in them to make an impact! Low maintenance.
I know there are so many places to get this kind of information right now and it can be overwhelming. I don’t want to overload you with info. I am trying to organize these lists as easy as possible. Does this blog post work for you? Comment below.
There are so many amazing and informative books that cover Black history, race, racism, anti-racism, social justice…everything we need to be focusing on right now. It’s so easy to shut down my work day and turn to TV to wind down. I am trying really hard to end my days with reading vs. binging a reality show.
We have to do the work. There is no excuse. It’s not enough to just speak it, we have to listen and become better versions of ourselves. This should be a daily practice. Lately, my mind has been flowing like rushing water and the only way to calm myself down is to meditate on my thoughts, decipher what’s real from what’s not and move forward only acting on what is true. Not acting on the insecurities and fear that have no truth. Does that make sense? It’s then that we can really trust ourselves and listen. Listen to absorb, not just to say you listened. So, keep reading, listening, asking questions, and learning.
