Whit’s Picks: Travel

Whitney Port holding newborn Sonny on her shoulder

This post is a part of our baby essentials series by Monica Banks, founder of Gugu Guru – the ultimate baby registry discovery site for style-savvy moms.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…and it’s also the most traveled time of the year too! If simply leaving the house seems like a daunting task, getting on a plane or going for a road trip can feel like an insurmountable feat to some first time moms. Luckily, there are some great products out there that will make traveling with an infant much easier. For this post on travel essentials, we sent Whitney our list of must-haves, she also did her own research and here are the products that rose to the top of her list.

The number one stroller Gugu Guru recommends for frequent flyers, the YOYO+ is extremely compact when folded (52 x 44 x 18 cm.) It qualifies as a carry on and can fit in the overhead. In fact, since 2012 the YOYO+ stroller is accepted or recognized as cabin luggage by most airlines companies.  Suitable from birth, the BABYZEN YOYO+ comes with a totally flat bassinet for infants, a 5-point harness, a 2-position pop up canopy, a foot cover and a headrest.

Cotopaxi Cusco Pack

The Cusco Pack from the “Gear for Good” brand Cotopaxi provides stylish, highly functional storage in a durable, mid-sized design. We love the high organization factor of this bag with a top zippered essentials pocket with key clip, large expandable front pockets, two water bottle pockets (moms have to keep hydrated) and an internal zippered mesh organizer.

Baby K’Tan

One must-have for any trip is a great carrier that keeps baby close, while still being comfortable for parents and ergonomic for baby. We love the Baby K’Tan because it’s as comfy as your favorite t-shirt, with no complicated wrapping or buckles. Trust us – simplicity comes in really handy when traveling via airplane – especially if you’re not TSA pre-check.

BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light

This travel crib is super simple to set up and break down. It’s lightweight and comes with an easy to use square travel case. Plus, all materials in the Travel Crib Light are made without flame retardants. This is a high quality product that will last well into your toddler travel days.

Puj Tub

The Puj tub is a soft foam infant tub that can be hung to dry and folds flat for easy travel. Incredible practical and fits any standard sink.

Noodle & Boo Essential Care Kit

This luxurious set for sensitive skin includes Extra Gentle Shampoo, Soothing Body Wash and Super Soft Lotion. Noodle & Boo is known for using the highest quality ingredients. We love this set for those on the go times because of the convenient travel sizes.

Covered Goods 4-in1 Nursing Cover

The Covered Goods original 4-in-1 nursing cover will give you 360 coverage on the go. Its machine-washable material is stretchy and can easily fit right into your diaper bag. The 4-in-1 uses include a nursing cover, car seat cover, infinity scarf and, shopping cart cover.

Skip Hop Pronto

We love this wipe clean changing pad to ensure you have a clean place to change baby anywhere. The Skip Hop Pronto includes pockets to hold diaper changing essentials and a stroller strap.

Baby Shusher

The Gugu Guru team highly recommends bringing some portable white noise for infants. This sound machine is fully portable so baby has a consistent sound no matter where you travel. This will ensure baby has an easy time falling asleep and, more importantly, staying asleep in a new place.

OXO Tot On-the-Go Drying Rack with Brush

This OXO bottle drying rack and portable brush is small enough to fit in a diaper bag but big enough to fit bottles and accessories while traveling.

Monkey Mat

We generally love the Monkey Mat for all on-the-go situations but it’s especially helpful to have it as a clean place to put baby on any airport floor!

Packing Cubes

Baby clothes/shoes/pajamas/socks are all small and can easily get mixed up in a big suitcase. These packing cubes help organize baby’s items and make everything easier to find.
