This post is a part of our new Grow with Gugu series by Monica Banks, founder of Gugu Guru – the ultimate baby product discovery site for style-savvy moms.
Recently Whitney got in touch with me for advice on something that so often parents are fretting about and that is travel – specifically airplane travel – with a highly active and mobile toddler. As much as it seems the world seems to be taking a more kind and patient attitude toward traveling children, nobody wants to be “that” parent, with “that” kid on a long flight.
I hope everyone is just as excited about the holidays this year as I am!! As we continue to prep for our big trip with Sonny to New York, I am also doing more holiday shopping so everyone is covered.
Timmy is a bit hard to shop for because he is super particular! Especially when it comes to clothing, but I think I did an OK job this time! If you have ANY more suggestions for gifts for him, PLEASE let me know. Still taking ideas!
Here is a little list of inspiration for those of you who have a hard time thinking of gifts for that man in your life!
A few weeks ago I posted on my Instagram about the challenge I was having with keeping my outdoor furniture clean! Even with covers and regular cleaning, fighting with the elements in my backyard is impossible. Marie Flanigan, my go-to source for all things home decor and improvement came to the rescue and put together a list of tips to help me take care of my beautiful things!
With a shared appreciation for good taste and fine living, creative-minded cousins Jeanne Chan and Gloria Wong Tritasavit co-founded Harlow & Grey, a line of chic and modern disposable tableware, to make entertaining both easy and elevated. The company was founded on the belief that high style and good design should be accessible to anyone who can dream it. Today, Gloria (co-founder, creative director and a mother of 3) is sharing a few useful tips to throwing your child’s first birthday party.
Over the weekend Timmy and I took Sonny over to Casa Bing to celebrate the launch of Anine’s new kid’s clothing line, Bing Kids. It was the cutest party but unfortunately we couldn’t stay very long. Sonny is going through a phase where is he scared of little kids.Is anyone else experiencing this with their babies?
For this Chapter of I Love My Baby, But…follow along with us for a day in the life of the Port-Rosenmans. This was filmed last Saturday so please keep that in mind when you start thinking to yourself “Damn, does this girl ever get out of her sweats?!?”
I have decided to do a new series on the blog called “You Asked, Whit Answered.” On a daily basis I receive so many questions on my Youtube channel, Instagram pictures and Stories and here on the blog. I have decided to turn it into a series where a few times a month I will take some of the most asked questions and answer them here!
A: I honestly don’t! It is so hard to find a real balance. I take each day truly day by day and make lots of to do lists! Baby comes first right now but I try to take advantage of help as much as I can. I work three days a week and spend the other four solely with baby. I definitely find myself very overwhelmed and behind on a lot but I try not to be too hard on myself. It is important that as new moms, we give ourselves a break and not maintain the same expectations of ourselves we once had.
3. Have you read any good parenting books?
Honestly, I haven’t ready any! I don’t know whether this is good or bad. Sometimes I think the more random information I know, the more I willl second guess my decisions. But I also don’t want to be ignorant. If you know of any great ones, I am open to them! Some women in my Mommy Group love THE HAPPY SLEEPER. I bought it but haven’t read it yet.
4. What was your favorite part about being pregnant?
Eating whatever I wanted! In my last trimester, I stopped worrying about gaining weight and really tried to enjoy this time in my life! When else was I ever going to indulge like that?
5. What registry items are you happy you registered for?
Last week my mom and sisters planned the most perfect non-traditional Baby Shower for me and Tim. It was a beautiful night in LA with our nearest and dearest friends and family at Above Sixty at the Sixty Beverly Hills!
My sister, Ashley, went to the Flower Mart and basically bought every flower that doesn’t look like your typical flower. It was a very bohemian jungle desert kind of look — just what I love!
Shelter Chic, a revolutionary nonprofit dog and cat rescue group, is having its third annual benefit this Thursday, May 11th, at Tao Downtown in NYC! Shelter Chic aims to eliminate the sadness associated with animal rescue and homeless animals by promoting adoption in a fun, uplifting, and positive way! We appeal to people who typically defer to pet stores and breeders when looking for a four-legged addition to their family, encouraging them to adopt instead, by dressing our animals in adorable clothing and showing that shelter pets can be chic, too!
This past weekend my sisters and cousin indulged in the best girls weekend ever at Rancho Valencia. It was just what we all needed — quality time, relaxation, yummy food, time by the pool, and lots of laughs!! With my belly growing by the day, I was anxious about my packing so I started days in advance and put together the go-to list of items for a weekend away!
