Creating a Love Bank

Hi!

As you have probably noticed, I am spending a lot of time talking about self-care on most my platforms – here, my Instagram and podcast, WITH WHIT. My mental health is a priority. I really want to pass on everything I am learning in hopes that something I am trying and hearing might help you too. Plus, sharing also holds me accountable to keep up the work!

Timmy and I talk about filling each other’s Love Buckets a lot. That means that we try to do things for each other that we know make us feeling good. I realized that I also need to fill my own Love Bucket too. In other words…self care :). I recently learned about a Love Bank from Koya Webb and I love it. Below you will find an article by Koya all about how you can create your own Love Bank!

Koya Webb is an internationally recognized yoga teacher, celebrity holistic health coach, author, speaker, and podcast host, on a mission to promote self-love and make healthy living a priority in a fun and accessible way. Koya is the founder of Get Loved Up, an international lifestyle community and Yoga School that inspires mental, spiritual and physical health through an app, online courses, retreats, in-person yoga teacher training events and the Get Loved Up Podcast. She is also the author of Let Your Fears Make You Fierce: How To Turn Common Obstacles into Seeds for Growth (Hay House, June 2019), and has a devout  Instagram following of over one million followers. I loved this article. Hope you do too!!

A Love Bank by Koya Webb

Now is the perfect time to create what I like to call a Love Bank.

We all know what and how a real commercial bank operates and some of the characteristics are the same. However, the biggest difference is the more you put into the bank the better you feel and the more you withdraw from the bank the better you feel. There is no lack in the Love Bank industry. When you are always adding a deposit of love and support for yourself you can never run out of the currency of LOVE.

Here’s how it works:

On small individual pieces of paper write out short statements of care, support, healing, and love that you want for yourself. Also write down the things that bring you joy. These are your deposits.

Grab a mason jar or anything that looks like a great place to store your “Love.”

Fill up the jar “bank” with all your deposits.

Every time you’re feeling low on love, go into your bank account and make a withdrawal and fill yourself up with what you need and want. Do at least two things that brings you joy. The great thing about what you’re withdrawing is that it all has been deposited by YOU.

The more deposits of Love you put into the bank the more you’ll have to receive. Just like in life.

However, every time you make a withdrawal it’s important for you to go back and write another deposit to keep your account full. The more you withdraw the less you have so it’s important to always make deposits.

So you may be asking what should I write? That, my love, is up to you. Examples are sleep in, take a long walk or drive, get your hair done, have a healthy meal, have a glass of your favorite beverage, set a healthy boundary, purchase a nice new set of sheets, or a simple but beautiful affirmation of love like “I Am Enough.”

Whatever it says it should mean something special to you. No one knows your bank account so therefore no one knows what you’ll need like you do. Just like real accounts know what you’re putting into your love bank so when you make that withdrawal you know what you’re getting. Another important thing about love banks is to use them. Using your deposit circulates that good energy into your atmosphere and allows it to bring you joy and happiness. You’ve put in the work, it’s time to enjoy an abundance of love.
